This is a song that tells about a man's love affair (the song writer) with his girlfriend, when he was still a teenager. Although teenage love relationships (love monkeys) look sweet, beautiful and even silly, often these relationships fail because of various things. Some people forget the story when they are adults, some can't move on from the story, including the songwriter. And luckily, the songwriter got a second chance to fall in love again with his girlfriend as a teenager. They then share "perfect" love.
"Follow My" explained directly that the songwriter was the one who took the initiative to start a second relationship with his girlfriend, because he could not muve on from him. Like a tit for tat, apparently his girlfriend has the same feelings as what the song writer feels.
In the following lyrics, the songwriter also tried to explain that the meeting reminded him of the story of the two of them when they were teenagers. Because they do not know what is the meaning of love, for some reason their story foundered and passed away. So on this second occasion, the songwriter seemed to promise he would not give up on maintaining his relationship as depicted in the lyrics "I will not give you up this time. The lyrics "And in your eyes you're holding mine" explain further that his girlfriend also has the same passion.
